Pontos Terminais Emaranhados (2017)

Na rede global de infraestrutura de cabos submarinos, os pontos terminais são sítios precários, passivos de serem afetados por atores locais, pelo ambiente que os circunda ou por ameaças de segurança. São, portanto, a partir de Nicole Starosielski, pontos de pressão em que microcirculações insignificantes podem possuir um alto impacto sobre a comunicação intercontinental oceânica, contestando a natureza livre de fricção da comunicação global. O artista busca estabelecer um vínculo fenomenológico com esse ambiente de transição da infraestrutura dos cabos submarinos, partindo dos pontos terminais em Fortaleza (Brasil), um importante nódulo na rede do Atlântico Sul e onde reside, para os pontos terminais em duas outras cidades com as quais Fortaleza está conectada em rede e que se encontram em extremos opostos do Atlântico Sul: Sangano (Angola) e Salgar (Colômbia).

In the global network of submarine cable infrastructure, the terminal points are precarious sites, susceptible to being affected by local actors, the surrounding environment, or security threats. Therefore, according to Nicole Starosielski, they are pressure points where insignificant micro-circulations can have a high impact on intercontinental oceanic communication, contesting the frictionless nature of global communication. The artist seeks to establish a phenomenological connection with this environment of transition of submarine cable infrastructure, starting from the terminal points in Fortaleza (Brazil), an important node in the South Atlantic network where the artist resides, to the terminal points in two other cities that Fortaleza is connected to in the network and are located at opposite ends of the South Atlantic: Sangano (Angola) and Salgar (Colombia).
